Hey hey. My home boy Tyler Butler (who is a truly gifted man by the way) has been gnarly enough to cover one of my songs! The song is called royal blood which i made for the digital split album tyler and i did late last year called Slow Horns. This cover is really great. I'm really happy about it.

Tyler also covered three other tunes of some friends of his. "Girls with Blue Guitars" by Eamon Mcgrath, "Born at the U of A" by Jom Comyn, and "Vernon and Josephine" by Layne L'Heureux. All of these covers are coated in gold (reverb) and sound great. And for you lo-fi freaks, there's even a little fridge noise in the background just for your enjoyment!

So recently I have been signed onto my friends label called Drawn Daggers. I'm really excited. Hopefully you'll be hearing about new "real" albums soon from me. My newest one (before there were mountains) is in the process of being rereleased on it with snazy new artwork by the amazing Josh Holinaty. I'm also working hard recording a bunch of new songs with my buddy asthon klassen (goose lake, molasses bow ties, machinery). If all goes well we should have a brand new batch of track done by summer and ready sometime in the winter/spring of 2011. Yeah.

While on a week long vacation in Mexico, i made 2 songs that didn't really fit with some of my other sounds so i thought i'd make another digi 7". The only instruments i had were a casio SA-20 and a casio PT-22 which i brought along (while sparing clothes at the same time). Anyway, these songs are pretty gross but i'll still let you take a listen. Peace.

i am molasses bow ties. i've been hanging around with the machinery boys ( and gal) for quite some time now, but have been absent from the blog. i'm a little late--i apologize.

However, lately, i've been playing with Courtney Loberg of Goose Lake. Courtney also played with us in machinery, with her violin and glock in hand(s). Courtney and i have been writing some stuff, and roamin' around. A couple of nights ago, I wrote an "orchestral" type, short song. It's tentatively named "lanky figures of men, marching!". You can find it on the Goose Lake webpage. So, if you like, you can check it out.

Hey, Lately i've been writting a whole bunch of new stuff for a "good" First Nations record in the fall. So far I have 3 new song in that last 3 days written. Ya, I'm going to try out the studio for size and see how that turns out. Not much is for sure yet but keep posted for any new developments. Also, i'm working on the finishing touches of "before there were mountains" right now so soon you will be able to give that a whizzzz.

(Win)nipeg Folk Festival

So Machinery just recently got back home from a little tour to the winnipeg folk festival and back. It was such a great time. Our first show was at the Hydeaway in Edmonton with The SSRI's, KRANG!, and Gold Rush. We played really well and everybody seemed to enjoy it. After Edmonton we went straight to Winnipeg where we played as part of the young performers program. We met a whole lot of cool people and were able to get our name out to a lot more people than we could just sitting in Grande Prairie. Once the festival was finished we went over to Saskatoon and played at Lydia's Pub. It was pretty "okay" i guess. We showed up and asked the guy when we were supposed to play and the man who booked us has totally forgot we were coming but we were still able to play 4 songs. But the 4 songs we played were pretty weak since the sound man was too worried about 2 girls 15 years younger than him so the sound was pretty bad.... But we still had a good time hanging out with Mark Berube and his band so it wasn't all bad. After Lydia's we returned to Edmonton and played at a fancy coffee shop called Cafe Leva which was so much fun. Tyler Butler opened for us and let us sleep over at his place which was the best cause we were getting pretty sick of the Winstar nights. Then it was off to Demmitt which is a little town near the BC border which has some really really great local artists. We played very well and it was a lot of fun. We also sold a bunch of cd and autographed them which was cool. Ya, good trip.
